Malaysians did not find the supposed upgrade “exciting”.
Whether on Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter) and Reddit, Malaysians overwhelmingly panned the new seating that were basically metal benches though some commenters pipped up saying “Haven’t the seats been there for a long time?”
On Reddit the most upvoted comment (over 300 upvotes) read: “Enhanced comfort p***** kau enhanced comfort. F*** u klia.”
Facebook commenters were marginally more polite, with the most-liked comment reading: “When you employ low quality people, this is the best that they can do. Metal bars they call seats. Low quality upgrades. And the transport minister says we should match Changi. Can’t even get the aero train fixed.”
X reactions were also irate, pointing out that the “enhanced comfort” seemed non-existent.
One X post stated: “If this is “enhanced comfort” - what was it before this ? Metal bars with iron spikes and red ants crawling all over?”
Some internet commenters pointed out that the seating was an example of “hostile architecture” made to discourage loiterers or the homeless from sitting too long on the seats.
Malaysia Airports has at press time not responded to the public criticism of the less than ideal and obviously less than comfortable seats.
